2017 marks the 10th year of passing of the great tenor Luciano Pavarotti!
Pavarotti was one of the most loved artists, enthralling audiences throughout the world in the latter half of the twentieth century. His long career took him to the world’s most prestigious opera houses and theaters, and his constant activity and dedication made him the undisputed ambassador of "bel canto" and Italian culture on the world stage. With his artistic and media skills and indefatigable passion for music, he managed to change the face of opera. For over forty years he attracted an ever-wider public that was totally new to opera.
For the first time in Indonesia, the recital, Pavarotti Forever, will bring to life the memory of Pavarotti through his famous arias. Tenors Marco Miglietta, Jenish Ysmanov, Alin Stoica, and Soprano Elisa Balbo will be accompanied by renowned pianist and a long-time friend of Maestro, Paolo Andreoli, to celebrate Pavarotti's life.
The concert will include some famous songs, such as Traviata-Brindisi, O Sole Mio, and many more. During the concert, unpublished videos of Pavarotti will be screened.
A special part of this recital is an intimate exhibition of memorabilias from Pavarotti's musical career that will be held on 25-26 November 2017. Gracing this momentous event in Jakarta will be the wife of the great Maestro, Nicoletta Mantovani, who is also the Director of the Luciano Pavarotti Foundation.
However there is more! Indonesia's most prominent composer & pianist, Ananda Sukarlan, has agreed to compose a new virtuosic piano work as a tribute to Pavarotti, who unfortunately had not visited and witness the beauty of Indonesia. That's why Ananda makes his new work combining Indonesian (Javanese) elements with the artistry of Pavarotti and Puccini, which promises this work to be a unique piece of music in the music history. This work will be premiered on Pavarotti Forever concert by the composer himself, which is expected to be a milestone in Italian and Indonesian cultural relations.
This recital is organized by the Embassy of Italy in Jakarta and Italian Cultural Institute, Jakarta, in collaboration with Ciputra Artpreneur.
