Bandung Contemporary Art Award (BaCAA) 2010 is an art competition conceived by Art-Sociated founded in 2009. This entity also manages Lawang Wangi, an exhibition space located in the Mekar Wangi area, Dago hills, Bandung.

Bandung Contemporary Art Award (BaCAA) is visual arts competition event which was initiated by ArtSociates founded in 2009. The institution also runs Lawangwangi, an exhibition room in Mekar Wangi, Dago, Bandung.

The purpose of BaCAA is to see and provide opportunities for Indonesian young visual artists potentials and observed closer the latest development by them. In this case, the age restriction matters. The election for BaCAA jurors as well, which consisted of visual arts, curators, journalists and art collectors.

Literally, the competition BaCAA was joined by participants from A-Z.  Most of them were not prominent figures of visual arts we often see in exhibitions. However, it is here the opportunity of BaCAA to encorage new debutante. The jury undesrstood every competition has its utopia seeds , i.e. the expectation of new works  beyond wit and sense, which went beyond what is believed and practiced.

Of 440 proposals sent via email and photos, the jury had to choose 100 names. Participants' works considered qualified were paintings, which directed to certain style and theme. All of the jurors immediately marked as the cliche representation, even according to a juror, decadence. Based on that, finally there were 60 names considered eligible according to BaCAA criteria. The works were in the form of videos, 3 dimensional ibjects, installations, photos, paintings and pictures. The research results then served as the basis of art works assessment.
